Kashmir Valley — Classic Tour
Kashmir has been called Paradise on Earth for centuries — and one journey through its emerald valleys, snow-dusted peaks, and mirror-still lakes will tell you exactly why. This classic 6-day circuit covers the very best of the Kashmir Valley: the regal houseboats and Mughal gardens of Srinagar, the high-altitude meadows and Asia’s best gondola at Gulmarg, the breathtaking glacier scenery of Sonamarg — the Gateway to Ladakh — and the pine-forested river valley of Pahalgam. Whether you drift on a shikara across Dal Lake at sunrise, ride a gondola above the clouds at Gulmarg, or walk the wildflower meadows of Pahalgam beside the Lidder River, every moment of this journey is saturated with a beauty that is simply impossible to forget.

Arrive at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport, Srinagar, and meet our representative for a warm welcome transfer to your hotel. After check-in and some rest, begin your first evening in the Valley with a visit to the revered Shankaracharya Temple — perched atop the Shankaracharya Hill, this ancient Shiva temple believed to date back to 371 BC offers sweeping views of the entire Srinagar valley and Dal Lake below. Continue to the sacred Kheer Bhawani Temple — one of Kashmir's most important Hindu shrines dedicated to Goddess Ragnya Devi, set on a natural spring whose waters are said to change colour as an omen. Head to the Boulevard for your first breathtaking glimpse of Dal Lake as the evening light turns the water golden. Stroll through the local market for Kashmiri dry fruits, saffron, and pashmina shawls. Welcome dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Srinagar.
After breakfast, spend a full day exploring the magnificent gardens and lake of Srinagar. Visit the world-famous Mughal Gardens — the terraced Shalimar Bagh, built by Emperor Jahangir for his queen Nur Jahan, and the grand Nishat Bagh (Garden of Bliss) overlooking Dal Lake with the dramatic Zabarwan mountain range as its backdrop. Also visit the charming Chashme Shahi — the Royal Spring — a compact Mughal garden fed by a natural spring, considered the smallest but most elegant of Srinagar's three great gardens. In the afternoon, visit the old city's Jama Masjid and the ancient wooden Pathar Masjid for a glimpse of Srinagar's rich architectural heritage. As the evening light softens over the water, board your Shikara for a leisurely 1-hour ride across Dal Lake — past floating vegetable gardens, lotus flower beds, and the famous floating morning market. Return for dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Srinagar.
After breakfast, drive to Gulmarg — the Meadow of Flowers — one of the most beautiful hill stations in India and home to Asia's highest cable car. The road winds through dense pine forests and alpine meadows, arriving at a vast green bowl ringed by snow peaks. Take the famous Gulmarg Gondola (tickets to be booked separately in advance) — Phase 1 ascends to Kongdori at 3,080 m for breathtaking Himalayan panoramas, while Phase 2 climbs further to Apharwat Peak at 3,980 m — one of the most dramatic high-altitude viewpoints accessible by cable car anywhere in the world. Stroll through the sprawling Gulmarg meadow and enjoy the crisp mountain air and snow patches that linger well into summer. Return to Srinagar by evening and check in to your Deluxe Houseboat on Dal Lake — a floating heritage home with richly carved wooden interiors, a private sit-out deck over the water, and the gentle lap of the lake all around you. Overnight on houseboat.
After breakfast on the houseboat, check out and drive northeast along the stunning Sindh River valley to Sonamarg — the Meadow of Gold — at 2,730 metres above sea level. The journey follows the Sindh River through poplar-lined villages, gushing streams, and dramatic mountain scenery all the way. At Sonamarg, visit the magnificent Thajiwas Glacier — a vast sheet of pristine snow surrounded by wildflower meadows and soaring Himalayan peaks — accessible by pony or on foot. Adventure lovers can take a short drive toward the legendary Zojila Pass, the dramatic high-altitude gateway to Ladakh, for awe-inspiring views. Return to Srinagar by evening, check in to your hotel, and enjoy a relaxed dinner. Overnight in Srinagar.
After breakfast, check out and drive south toward Pahalgam — the Valley of Shepherds — through some of the most scenic countryside in Kashmir. En route, stop at the ancient Awantipura Ruins — a magnificent 1,100-year-old temple complex dedicated to Lord Vishnu built by King Awantiverma, one of the most important archaeological sites in the Kashmir Valley. Drive through the golden Pampore Saffron Fields, where Kashmir's world-famous saffron is grown in vast purple-flowering fields visible from the road. Arrive Pahalgam and check in beside the sparkling Lidder River. In the afternoon, visit the lush Betab Valley — named after the Bollywood film shot here — with its meadows, pine forests, and rushing glacial river, and the serene Aru Valley, a peaceful highland meadow perfect for a quiet afternoon walk with snow peaks all around. Overnight in Pahalgam.
After a leisurely breakfast, check out and drive back to Srinagar. En route, stop at the Martand Sun Temple — a stunning 8th-century ruined temple complex dedicated to the Sun God, perched on a high plateau with sweeping views across the Kashmir valley, built by the Karkota Dynasty and among the most significant ancient monuments in the region. Arrive Srinagar with time for last-minute shopping — Kashmiri carpets, papier-mâché boxes, walnut wood crafts, saffron, and dry fruits make for perfect souvenirs of the Valley. Transfer to Srinagar Airport for your onward journey. Tour ends with memories of a valley that truly deserves its name — Paradise on Earth.
